A remarkable moment of renewal is unfolding in Kenya — and your generosity is right at the heart of it. Across the country, more people are returning to Mass, and the demand for Eucharistic hosts has risen sharply. Thanks to your support through Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), the Carmelite Sisters of Machakos can now meet this growing need with dignity and joy.

A Growing Church in Kenya

Kenya, a nation where more than 82% of the population identifies as Christian, has seen a significant rise in Mass attendance since the pandemic. According to ACN’s Religious Freedom in the World Report 2025, the Catholic community continues to grow in strength and devotion.

For the 26 Carmelite Sisters at the Monastery of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Machakos Diocese, this return to the sacraments has been a blessing — but also a challenge. Alongside their life of prayer, the Sisters support themselves by baking Eucharistic wafers and producing liturgical items for local parishes.

An Urgent Need for Better Host‑Baking Equipment

For years, the Sisters relied on an old, unreliable wafer‑baking machine. It frequently broke down, slowed their work, and made it difficult to keep up with the rising demand for altar breads.

Prioress Sister Mary Therese Ndinda explained:

“The experience of the pandemic has led many people to come back to Church.”

But with their modest income barely covering their basic needs, replacing the equipment was impossible without help.

Your Support Made the Difference

Because of your generosity, ACN was able to provide the community with new altar‑bread baking equipment. This upgrade has transformed their daily work — allowing the Sisters to produce hosts safely, efficiently, and with renewed peace of mind.

Sister Mary Therese shared her gratitude on behalf of the entire community:

“We want to express our gratitude for your generous support.”

Your kindness ensures that parishes across Kenya can continue celebrating the Eucharist, even as attendance grows. You help the Sisters live their vocation with joy, supporting the Church through the work of their hands and the constancy of their prayer.

Why Your Support Matters

Your generosity does more than replace equipment. It strengthens the Church in places where resources are limited but faith is flourishing. It allows religious communities to continue their hidden, essential ministries. And it ensures that the sacraments remain available to the people who are returning to God with open hearts.

Thank you for being someone who brings hope, dignity, and practical help to the Church in Kenya.

Your compassion keeps the mission alive.
