Religious freedom

“Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship or observance.” (Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)

Today there are some 200 million Christians around the world who are unable to practise their faith freely, and there are over 80 countries in the world where the fundamental right to religious freedom is not guaranteed.

Internationally, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) publishes a Religious Freedom in the World Report every two years, to assess the status of religious freedom across all mainstream religions worldwide.
