BEATIFIED NUN: ARCHBISHOP PRAYS FOR MORE VOCATIONS

On Sunday, 13th January, His Grace, the Archbishop Charles Scicluna officiated at the Church of St Bartholomew in Ghargurfor a Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the beatification of Blessed Angèle-Marie Littlejohn who was beatified on 8th December 2018 together with 18 other missionaries who were martyred in Algeria during the country’s civil war between 1994 and 1996.

In his homily at the Mass, the Archbishop said amidst the celebration of the beatification, it is important to remember that the beatified martyrs have one more step before they are canonized as Saints. This step he said includes the testimony of a miracle attributed to prayers said through their intercession.

He, therefore, prayed that the Church in Malta witnesses more vocations into the religious life.

In attendance at the Mass were Mgr Alfred Vella, Director of the Emigrants Commission, Mgr Philip Calleja, Emeritus Director of the Commission, Fr. Christopher Galea, Parish Priest of the Parish Church of Ghargur and Sr. Yvonne Gera who worked in Algeria 22 years and knew the nun personally.
