The escalating inflation in Venezuela has left the clergy unable to cover all the costs of living. Yet, trusting God’s providence, priests and religious continue to minister, offering spiritual solace to those in need.
Supporting new priests is at the core of ACN’s mission, as it strengthens the Church’s role in offering hope, comfort, and guidance through the proclamation of the Good News and the healing power of the Sacraments, which are so much needed in these difficult times.
The heartfelt plea to “Give us today our daily bread…” has never been more poignant, especially for those who dedicate their lives to the service of others.
Deeply rooted in faith
The Diocese of La Guaira’s history is deeply rooted in faith, stretching back to the late 1500s when the first seeds of belief were planted along its coastline. Over the centuries, the Church grew alongside the community, establishing parishes and fostering a strong spiritual life.
From its early beginnings as a small mission to its elevation as a vicariate in 1680, the diocese became an integral part of the lives of its people. Today, despite the challenges of modern life, the Church continues to stand with the community, offering strength, support, and hope through every trial.

Seminarians training for the priesthood in Venezuela
Central to this mission is the Seminary of “San Pedro Apostol,” founded on 2 October 1977. It was established with the vision of nurturing local clergy for the young Diocese of La Guaira. Later blossoming into a vibrant institution, committed to forming future priests who will tend to the spiritual needs of the faithful.
A vital mission
While vocations have become less common, the seminary’s mission remains more vital than ever, as Venezuela faces profound spiritual challenges and a pressing need for priests to guide its people. With over 60 priests ordained and seminarians from 11 dioceses, the seminary continues to cultivate faith, service, and hope, ensuring that future generations will have dedicated shepherds to guide them.
Currently, the 27 students come from seven different jurisdictions. The Diocese of La Guaira is deeply committed to nurturing vocations, ensuring that the spiritual harvest of La Guaira and beyond is nurtured for generations to come.
ACN is convinced that providing financial support for these seminarians is a sacred duty. By ensuring that hunger does not become an obstacle to their calling, we help them remain focused on their mission to serve as the shepherds that Venezuela so urgently needs.
Please give today and help sow the seeds of faith for future generations.
